Cyber War: McDonalds Indonesia and 914 Websites Hacked by BD Grey Hat Hackers

cyber-war-mcdonalds-indonesia-and-914-websites-hacked-by-bd-grey-hat-hackers Cyber war between Bangladeshi and Indonesian hackers is at peak where hackers from both sides are attacking each other's cyber space, this time the official website of McDonalds Indonesia was hacked and defaced by BD Grey Hat Hackers. The same day a Pakistani hacker aiding Bangladeshi hacker going with the handle of Dr@cul@ had hacked and defaced 914 Indonesian websites yesterday. Both hacks were announced by hackers on their official Facebook page with warning messages to Indonesian hackers:

McDonald's Hacked by Ablaze Ever BD GREY HAT HACKERS! Hello Indonesia This is Dr@cul@ From BD GREY HAT HACKERS Hope you all Will Be Fine After Watching These Shits :P Never Challenge us.

Other then above mentioned hacks, the BD Grey Hat Hackers have been hacking several Indonesian government sites including its finance department and several religious affair and court sites. opizzah-opisrael-login-details-of-33895-israelis-leaked-by-phr0zenm A hacker going with the handle of @Phr0zenM on Twitter has claimed to leak 33,895 login details of Israeli citizens after breaching several Israeli websites. The hacker calls this leak as a part of #OpIzzah and #OpIsrael in response to #OpIslam started couple of months ago by Israeli hackers. After analyzing the dumped login accounts , I have found emails and their encrypted passwords. However, it is not confirmed if all the data specifically belongs to Israeli citizens. The hacker also left a message on dumped data explaining the reason for leaking such a large among of data:

  • Random Israeli site leaked in response to OpIslam under OpIzzah OpIsrael The electronic Israeli defenses you boast so much about are useless.

Most of the leaked emails belong to Israeli web portal @Walla.co.il, @walla.com, @zahav.net.il, @nana.co.il @idf.gov.il, @supreme.court.gov.il,@il.nestle.com, @outlook.co.il, @mail.huji.ac.il, @hotmail and @gmail.com.

Important Note:

The dumped data is not entirely new, some of it has been leaked before with clear text passwords by Algerian hackers and some of it available on a 258 pages PDF file on rotter.net. The data now available on Pastebin which I am posting below: Considering the hackers reputation which is positive considering his previous hack for #OpWilders in which Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) was breached and personal details of 50,000 users were exposed. United Nations Information Center Jakarta Websites Hacked by Dr.SHA6H-3

A well known hacker going with the handle of Dr.SHA6H has hacked and defaced 3 official websites of automobile and motor companies including Dodge, formally the Dodge Division of Chrysler Group, FIAT motors Australia and FIAT New Zealand.  The sites were hacked today and left with a deface page and a message in support of people of Syria and against the role of US, UN, Arab countries and governments around the world. The message was expressed in following words: 

  • These are initiatives that guide the whole world, F**k UN, USA, Arab and all gov! This is one of the children who died; who was waiting for the human rights organizations for his defense.

One site belongs to United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and second site belongs to United Nations Volunteers (UNV), left with a deface page along with a simple note.

The site was hacked today, left with a deface page along with a message but reason for targeting  Indian High Commission site was not mentioned anywhere.  The message on the deface page was expressed in following words:

A Pakistani hacker going with the handle of Hasnain Haxor has hacked and defaced the official website of Indian Customs at Indira Gandhi Int Airport Mumbai, India and a website of Tamilnadu State Agricultural Marketing Board . Hacker managed to root the whole server with 800+ Indian sites on along with Indian Customs site which is a very high profile one that contains sensitive information on its server. The site was left with a deface page along with a message. It is unclear if hacker got access to any confidential information related to passengers travel and personal information. The deface message was expressed in following words:

A Pakistani hacker going with the handle of Sizzling Soul from Pak Cyber Eaglez has hacked in to the official website of Thai Police Nursing College, as a result the site has been defaced, database along with login details of site's admin and 64 college's staff have been leaked online. The reason for targeting Thai website remains unknown as the deface page only contains a note, claiming that site has been hacked by Sizzling Soul.

Hacker has dumped the data on Pastebin which contains 64 usernames, emails addresses and their encrypted passwords. After analyzing the data, I have found it legit and never been leaked online in past by any other hacker or crew. Websites’ servers hacked to host child abuse images: BBC

websites-servers-hacked-to-host-child-abuse-images The watch foundation of internet has made a statement that many online business networks have been hacked by different hackers and the servers of these businesses have been utilized to host images that relate to sexual abuse of child or child pornography. The charity made a statement that the legal websites that are running pornographic material have also been hacked on many occasions and the users of such websites have been redirected towards illegal material and such material sometime accompanied different type of malware. The BBC radio live 5 has been told by IWF that they have received a total of 227 reports on the same issue and these reports have been received only in the last 6 weeks’ time.

Hijacked Links

IWF which is Cambridge based has asserted that the images that were loaded through the hacked servers show the worst form of sexual abuse. Those images included newborn babies and also included sexual abuse and violent rape of young children. They gave the example of some furniture business that got hacked and there servers were used for the same purpose. The attackers which attacked and breached this website formulated a folder on their computer and named it as Orphan Page. They uploaded offending images which counted in hundreds and the page on which they were hosted on the retailer’s website had no link to other pages on that website. They told that apart from this furniture business, around 2 dozen or more websites of different businesses have been breached and have been used for the same purpose. The IWF also added that administrators that were running these websites might have been unaware of the issue until they receive complain from someone. Sara Smith who is the technical researcher of IWF said that the incidents of websites being hacked have really increased over the span of last two years but these incidents have become more common since June which is really alarming. She also added that the reason or the aim of hackers behind these attacks is to spread different malware such as Trojan. The IWF is specialized in removing images that relate to child sexual abuse and do not have the skills or the goal to track the hackers behind these activities. However, it is quite obvious that a user of internet will feel shy in taking his/her computer for fixing the malware because of knowing the fact that the problem or the infection has been caused by a folder that contained images of child sexual abuse. But we are well aware that most of the people who got affected by such malware had no intention to search out such content. Sara also added that they have transferred the information to the department of police and also to the sister hotlines that operate in other regions and countries. NSPCC, Children Charity said that people should immediately report in case they counter any such material and they also said that around 16 percent of the men have been failing in making such report. We really recommend and encourage people for making the repot because you might be having a thumbnail in your system relating to the image that you have even clicked for 1 second.  To address the issue, a meeting of the top representatives of different internet companies was called back in June by Maria Miller who is the culture secretary. Various aspects of the issue were discussed in this meeting. The representatives included the officials of Microsoft, Twitter and Google and it was unanimously agreed that quick and effective steps should be taken to address the issue on a wide scale so that such images do not cause any more trouble.

Increase in Reports

The issue related to showing of children sexual abuse images and videos on the website has become quite hot in the last few months and especially after convictions of Mark Bridger and Stuart Hazell for murders of April jones and Tia Sharp. Both Bridger and Hazell are being said to have viewed and sought out the images of child abuse. The IWF made a statement that there has been a 42 percent increase in the filing of reports after the case of Hazell and Bridger and this increase has been noted in the last three months.

SultanHaikal left a deface page along with a deface message on his half of 38 sites, where the message was expressed in following words:

While  M3QD4D has hacked 37 Chinese government sites and left a deface page with a simple note of 'M3QD4D'. The websites hacked by SultanHaikal belong to several cities, municipality, states, government owned hospitals and parks, while sites targeted by M3QD4D belongs to different government owned companies, cities, organisations and municipal corporations. A hacker going with the handle of RedX from Bangladeshi based 3xp1r3 Cyber Army has hacked and defaced the official website of California's Covina City and Police Department website (http://covinaca.gov) along with its sub-domain.

Hacker left a deface page along with a message on hacked Covina City and Police Department but the reason for targeting site was not mentioned anywhere. The deface message was expressed in following words:

Hacked by Red X, Bangladeshi Hacker! Dear Admin, Secure you site! Greets to all members of 3xp1r3 Cyber Army.

Covina City website operates city issues along with its official police department issues within the same domain name. It is unclear if hacker had got access to any sensitive information or if any data was made public related to city's police depatment

Hackers left a deface page along with a message on the hacked site bashing Serbs for killing over thousands of people. The deface message was explained in following words: 

  • Hello Serbs, now wonder why you see it on this particular page??  Kosovo is not Serbia ..  We will always remember what you did to our people, you drove close to 1 million displaced people you killed more than 14,000 people are raped more than 20000 women. We want justice and we want our missing people back.

This is not the first time when website of UK National Commission for UNESCO (UKNC) has been hacked, last month a Turkish based hacker KriptekS had hacked and defaced the site. AnonGhost has announced this hack via his official Facebook account where site was left with a deface page along with a simple note, hailing and greeting the Islamic republic of Pakistan. The message was expressed in these words:

  • Mauritania Attacker Was here ^_^ Pakistan Zindabad Big Love From Mauritania.

It is not confirmed but seems that AnonGhost aka Mauritania Attacker is working with the Pakistani hackers in order to attack Indian and Israeli cyber space. The website of Embassy of India in Israel is designed and managed by its Information Wing and in current scenario when both countries are facing massive tension over LOC shooting, this hack can be added into the list of high profile hacks. Hacker left a deface page along with a message on hacked website which explains the reason for hack was to retaliate against Indian hacker who had hacked the official website and Facebook page of Pakistan Army.

Hacked by MindCracker, Hacked! Hello Guys! Ahooo Indian railways pawned LOL! Go to hell this hack in reply to Pak Army website!

The Xinjiang conflict is an ongoing separatist struggle in the northwestern part of today’s China. The indigenous Uighur people claim that the region, which they view as their fatherland and refer to as East Turkestan, is not part of China. In past 33 Chinese Government sites were also hacked against killings of innocent women and children from Uyghurs Muslims in China. At the time of publishing this article, some sites were hacked, some were restored and remaining were displaying offline messages.

The site is not government owned yet contains massive data, exposing login details of site users. The hacker contacted me on Twitter and explained why the site was targeted, a similar explanation can be found on Pastebin where the data was dumped. The message can also read below:    
  • The majority of the leaked accounts belong to Irani defacers.
  • The owner sucks for scanning his website with Acunetix to expose the vulnerabilities (This explains why there are emails like "acunetix123@acunetix.com".
  • The passwords might work on the emails so make sure to login on each and every email for maximum lulz. =)
After analyzing the dumped data, I have found sites's database, site admin's emails with encrypted passwords, emails and encrypted passwords of thousands of Irani based defacers and site users, most of leaked emails are from @yahoo.com @gmail.com and @hotmail.com. It seems the breach has massively affected the site as at the time of publishing this article, the website was down and displaying 'maintenance' message.

All sites were left with a deface page along with a message against India and Israel supporting freedom movements in Kashmir and Palestine. The deface message was expressed in following words:

  • Freedom & Justice For Kashmir & Palestine, down with Israel! We Want Free Kashmir! Go Back - Leave Our Kashmir" And Listen To Me Carefully: Kashmir is part of Pakistan.

After analyzing the list of hacked sites, I have found out that 1 out of 6000 sites is a high profile that belongs to Consulate General of India for Hong Kong.All other sites belong private and semi government institutions. There has been a massive cyber war going on between the hackers of India and Pakistan, targeting each other cyber space everyday. Just the previous week an Indian hacker had hacked Pakistan army site and in reply a Pakistan hacker had hacked Indian railways site. At the time of publishing this article, some sites were hacked and rest were taken offline.

The Syrian Electronic Army has done it again this time Washington Post, Time and CNN have been targeted by Syrian hackers by b breaching the internal systems of Outbrain, a content recommendation service whose widget helps online publishers increase web traffic. The Washington Post, CNN and Time are the affected news websites. The visitors of certain articles have been redirected to the official Syrian Electronic Army website and the hackers have been competent through compromising the systems of Outbrain.

In a statement of Outbrain claimed that Outbrain has been attacked earlier by the Syrian Electronic Army and Outbrain has become a social engineering victim. The CEO of Outbrain sent a phishing email on the evening of 14 August to all employees of Outbrain. The employees of Outbrain were asked a question to feedback their documentation to view the information. Moreover, according to hijackers they planned to hijack The New York Times when the service was shut down. Washington Post also disclosed that over the weekend it was also attacked by the hackers. You can also recall, earlier this week the Twitter accounts of New York Post were hijacked. In addition, the account of Jason Reid a columnist of Washington Post was also against hacking. The effort by attempting to obtain password information was the reason for the incident. This is not the first time when Syrian Electronic Army has hacked Twitter account of big fish media giant, in past official twitter accounts of UK based The Telegraph News, ITV News London, Financial Times, twitter account of The Onion Satirical Newspaper, E!Online, 11 account of Guardian Newspaper, The Associated Press,CBS, BBC Network, German Broadcaster Deutsche Welle’s (DW) Twitter, Human Rights Watch, France 24 Arabia and France 24 Observers, Qatar Foundation’s Twitter, AFP Photo, Sky News Arabia and Thomson Reuters were hacked and used by the hackers.

The online hackavist group Anonymous has hacked and defaced the official website of Gabon's top most manganese alloy producer (http://www.eramet-comilog.com) for their ongoing operation going with the name of #OpGabon. As a result database and login details of 9 site users have been leaked online. Hackers left their official Anonymous logo on the website along with a link redirecting to another site with data dumped on it. The dumped data shows a message left by Anonymous expressed in following words:

  • #OpGabon [hello citizens of the world, this is anonymous once again, here with a wild leak of the defaced site.

The leaked data has been dumped on CyberGuerrilla that shows database of the website along with 3 usernames, login details of site's administrator and developer including their encrypted passwords. Site's Targeted link and dumped data is available here. #OpGabon was started by Anonymous hackers couple of months ago by challenging massive crisis in West Africa due to killings and injustice by the ruling class of the country. The hackers started cyber attacks on the government and its supporting companies such as Gabonese based logistic company 'Courtage Gabon Logistique' (cgl-gabon.com) for supporting the alleged killings of Gabonese youth.
